Band Expectations

SAEGER BAND STUDENTS WILL:
• Be involved participants in their school community.
• Be Responsible, Respectful, and Safe.
• Be able to achieve high levels of success and musical fulfillment.
• Demonstrate our four program-wide guiding principles:

THE 4 C’s:

COMMITMENT - Students will be able to take pride and ownership in the Spartan Band organization by always being prepared for class, rehearsals, concerts, and events.  Attendance and participation is essential in a performing ensemble – every member is important!

“Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.” – Vince Lombardi

COMMUNITY - Students will create a welcoming and safe community in the Spartan Band organization by treating each other with respect, valuing each other’s differences, and supporting each other in all musical endeavors.

“A community is like a ship; everyone ought to be prepared to take the helm.” – Henrik Ibsen

CONTROL - Students will have the self-control to restrain negative and disruptive behavior in order to promote pride and success in this organization.

“Talent without discipline is like an octopus on roller skates. There's plenty of movement, but you never know if it's going to be forward, backwards, or sideways."— H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

CLASS - Students will conduct themselves with class and display high standards of personal behavior in all situations while representing the Spartan Bands.

“Hold yourself to a higher standard than anyone else expects of you.  Never excuse
yourself.”  - Henry Ward Beecher
