The student population of FHSD continues to become more diverse, and the percentage of minority students in the District has doubled over the past decade to almost 20 percent. As the demographics of the student population continue to change, so does the professional learning for FHSD employees.

Saeger Community Warms Hearts and Bodies with Chili Fundraiser for Recovering Teacher Todd Bizzell

Todd Bizzell teaches industrial technology classes at Saeger Middle School, serves as an advisor for the school’s robotics teams, and is also an assistant football coach at Francis Howell Central, and all can be a challenge. But Bizzell is facing a far more daunting task now, as he fights through Stage 4 kidney cancer. However, just as he doesn’t flinch at teaching difficult subjects and concepts, Bizzell is taking his latest battle in stride. The man just knows how to fight adversity, and he doesn’t stand alone. Last week, the Saeger Middle School community rallied behind one of its favorite teachers, collecting donations to help him pay his medical fees.

FHSD Students Raise Record Amount for American Heart Association

Jumping rope, playing dodge ball, and shooting hoops may seem like playtime to some, but for students in FHSD, it’s a matter of heart. During the 2016-17 school year, FHSD elementary and middle schools collected a record total $109,011.48 for the American Heart Association (AHA) through Jump Rope for Heart, Hoops for Heart, and Dodge for Heart. Only four other school districts in Missouri raised more money for AHA during the 2016-17 school year.
