Saeger Middle School Elective Priority Standards

Art: The 2014-15 data indicated lower than 50% student mastery on three out of five standards related to the Principles of Art; EP2A balance (42%), EP2C contrast (44%), EP2D rhythm (N/A), EP2F proportion (69%), AP2Ab analysis of elements and principles (30%). All 2015-2016 8th grade Art students will achieve 70% or greater on the five standards related to the Principles of Art(EP2A, EP2C, EP2D, EP2F, AP2Ab) as measured by their end of semester benchmark summative exam.

Band: Develop and apply instrumental music skills to perform and communicate through the arts.  Develop and apply the knowledge and skills to read and notate music.  Develop and apply skills to compose, arrange, and create music to communicate through the arts.

Drama: I will be able to practice and perform a character using a script.  I will be able to recognize how our history, diversity, and the world today are seen in themes and characters from various plays.  I will plan, polish, and present a speech to class.

EbDFor the year 2015-2016, 100% of 8th grade EbD students will achieve at least an 80% or better on questions aligned to Priority Standard 1 and 3.  Priority Standard 1 is STL 2N which states, “Systems thinking involves considering how every part relates to others.”  Priority Standard 3 is STL 2V which states, “Controls are mechanisms or particular steps that people perform using information about the system that causes systems to change.

FACSStandard 1A- Identify how to prevent common kitchen accidents.  Standard 1E- Explain how to measure various ingredients. Standard 1J- Utilize meat, eggs, and dairy in recipes.

IT88 percent of the students will score 85% or better on the General Safety Test.

MPT: We will be able to select melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic ideas to develop into a larger work using digital tools and resources.  We will be able to demonstrate attention to technical accuracy and expression in creating a song using digital tools.

TIL: 1.b:  Students will be able to create original works as a means of personal or group expression.  2.b:  Students will communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences using a variety of media and formats.  3.c:  Students will be able to evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on the appropriateness to specific tasks.  4.a:  Identify and define authentic problems and significant questions for investigation.  5.a:  Students will have awareness of safe and responsible use of technology.  6.a:  Students will be able to understand and use technology and systems.

Foregin Language1.1: Students engage in conversations, provide & obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions in the TL (Interpersonal).  1.2: Students understand and interpret written and spoken language on a variety of topics (Interpretive).  1.3: Students present information, concepts, and ideas in the TL to an audience of listeners or readers on a variety of topics (Presentational).
