The FHSD Board of Education welcomed Saeger Middle School student Jason Kuhn as the student representative for the March Board Meeting. Kuhn, an eighth grader at Saeger, has only been in the Francis Howell School District since the beginning of the school year, but this outstanding student has already made quite the impact.

Kuhn is known as an active listener who participates in class each day. “Jason never falters in his commitment to being an excellent student,” said Kuhn’s band teacher, Shannon Crepps. “If he is ever having a bad day or not feeling his best, I would never know - because he always conducts himself at the highest level and continues to show the same amount of effort in class day in and day out.” Kuhn’s dedication is apparent as a student, but also as a wrestler for the Junior Spartans. “You cannot find a harder worker or a more committed individual than Jason Kuhn,” said Bob Breuer, physical education teacher and coach. “He has developed into a future leader for our high school wrestling team at Francis Howell Central.”

Along with his work ethic, Kuhn is often recognized for his exemplary manners. He respectfully addresses his teachers as “sir” or “ma’am,” and will often ask them how their day is going. “He is very courteous and punctual in just about everything he does in class,” said Breuer. “Jason is about the nicest student period.” Though Kuhn is new to FHSD, he continuously goes out of his way to greet others. “He quickly found a place within the school community and his kindness has spread to others,” reflected U.S. history teacher Matt VanHorn.

Kuhn is an all-around great student, but what is truly inspiring is his relationship with his younger brother Jeremy, a sixth grader and special education student at Saeger. Kuhn takes the special education bus each day, so he can ride with Jeremy. The two brothers share a special bond as Jeremy talks about his big brother and best buddy all of the time. “Jason embodies the pillars of what Saeger stands for: respect, responsibility, and safety,” says Saeger principal Kandy Worley.

FHSD is honored to shine a light on this kind student, and are thrilled to welcome him to our District this year.
