FHSD Celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week

Teachers deliver so much to students—inspiration, knowledge, and motivation. They play a pivotal role in our children’s lives, inspiring a lifelong love of learning and discovery and making a difference in their well-being and long-term success. Join us in showing our thanks and appreciation to our dedicated educators during Teacher Appreciation week, May 6-10, 2019.

“In FHSD, we are fortunate to have over 1,200 highly-trained and experienced teachers working in our classrooms, ensuring a quality education for each and every student,” said Superintendent Dr. Mary Hendricks-Harris. “Their work and impact extend far beyond the boundaries of the classroom, shaping the future of our students.”

FHSD teachers do so much more than teach a curriculum; they work collaboratively and individually to improve their practice, find creative ways to inspire kids and are devoted to student learning. From creating fun and engaging classroom and lab activities to staying after hours to run an after-school club or activity, our teachers are incredibly committed to helping all students achieve excellence, both in and out of the classroom.

Teachers provide opportunities for students to connect with the world around them, develop basic skills for success in life and work, experience the realization of high expectations and the fulfillment of steps toward achievable goals. They spend countless hours preparing lessons, evaluating progress, counseling and coaching students. They are shaping the leaders of tomorrow!

Please take a moment to #ThankaMOTeacher for all of their contributions to the education of our students, and the leadership they provide to the young lives in our community.
