Each year, Character.org and its state affiliates select schools and districts that demonstrate a dedicated focus on character development programs and a positive impact on academic achievement, student behavior, school climate and their communities.

Clash of the Bots – GM LEGO Challenge with FHSD Middle Schools

On Friday, March 3, students in the Robotics Clubs at Saeger, Barnwell, Bryan, and Francis Howell Middle Schools competed in the General Motors LEGO Challenge at St. Charles Community College.

Physical Science Honor Students Take A Trip to the Future

On Monday, March 13, physical science honor students at Saeger Middle School took a field trip to the St. Louis University Parks College of Engineering, Aviation, and Technology, where they learned about various facets within the field of engineering. During the trip, students visited four different engineering labs – civil, biomedical, electrical, and aerospace- mechanical. Students were excited to be on a university campus and to learn the possibilities of pursuing engineering as a career within a tech-driven world.

Music Production and Technology at Saeger

The world is coming of age in technology. Francis Howell School District (FHSD) is becoming the platform where students practice and learn technology skills that will not only prepare them for careers and college, but will make them stronger, critical thinkers and problem solvers. At Saeger Middle School, Music Production and Technology teacher Patrick Keller is raising the bar when it comes to bridging tech and education. Keller’s class blends music technology, strategy, and creativity to foster purposeful and meaningful work among his students. With projects ranging from podcasting, voice editing, and audio arrangement, the curriculum is geared to provide as much insight to a side of technology for the media.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Lucky Saeger Middle School students received the opportunity of a lifetime recently, when they had the chance to visit Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory! Well, maybe not in real life, but definitely in Saeger’s production of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” On Thursday, March 2, the auditorium at Francis Howell Central High School was packed with about 300 attendees to see this production by the Saeger Drama Department.

Student Spotlight – Spencer Rodecap of Saeger Middle Reps Peers at February BOE Meeting

Throughout the school year, the Francis Howell School District (FHSD) Board of Education invites a student to represent their peers at the monthly meeting. This month the Board entertained a special guest, the first middle school student to represent the student body at an FHSD Board meeting. Spencer Rodecap, the son of David and Heather Rodecap, and an eighth grader from Saeger Middle School, whom teachers and administrators describe as the ideal Saeger Spartan.

Saeger Provides New Coats and Winter Gear for Local Families in Need

Saeger Middle School recently held their annual Spartan Winter Warm-Up, collecting new and gently used coats, gloves, hats, and scarves. Saeger’s Spartan Service Club has been organizing the drive for the past seven years to benefit families in our community who need a little extra warmth during the holiday season.

New FHSD Safety Measures Include Unannounced Intruder Drills

Student safety is always a top priority of the Francis Howell School District (FHSD). The District annually conducts a variety of safety drills including fire, tornado, earthquake and intruder drills. Participation in these safety drills is where most students get directly involved in their own safety. New this year, FHSD will conduct one unannounced intruder drill at each of our schools.

FHSD Recognized for Bus Safety

The buses that safely transport students of the Francis Howell School District (FHSD) every day will display a special new sticker starting in August, after earning the “Total Fleet Excellence” distinction for 2016. The stickers indicate excellence in the overall maintenance and reliability of the District’s bus fleet. The distinction is determined by the Missouri State Highway Patrol based on the results of the annual school bus inspection, a program conducted by the Patrol’s Motor Vehicle Inspection Division.

Transition Day Welcomes Sixth and Ninth-Graders to New School Year

The new school year marks the beginning of another chapter for students, especially for sixth and ninth-graders, as they will walk down unknown hallways on their first day of middle and high school. For FHSD students, however, getting used to the new environment is made a little easier during Transition Day. This year students had the chance to get a first look at their new school buildings during FHSD Transition Day on Aug. 4, 2016.
