FHSD has been
honored by the College Board with placement on the 9th Annual AP® District Honor Roll. FHSD is one of only five school districts in Missouri, and one of only 363 in North America, to achieve this distinction. To be included on the 9th Annual Honor Roll, the District had to increase the number of students participating in AP while also maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on an AP Exam. Reaching these goals indicates that FHSD is successfully identifying motivated, academically prepared students who are ready for Advanced Placement. This is the fifth time that FHSD has been named to the prestigious list.

“We are always looking for ways to identify more students to take rigorous courses, and being recognized by the College Board is a testament to our steady increase in AP offerings and student achievement,” said FHSD Superintendent Dr. Mary Hendricks-Harris. “Student success is always our primary focus, and our continuing efforts to expand the AP program will help to ensure that students are college and career ready when they graduate.”

For the 2017-18 school year, 266 FHSD students were named AP Scholars, the most in District history. “In Francis Howell, we believe that any student considering college should experience college-level instruction before they graduate,” said Dr. Lucas Lammers, FHSD Director of Secondary Education. “We have used several measures to identify students with college potential, many of whom were not initially planning to take AP courses. Through our relationships, we helped students believe that they could thrive in the AP environment. Their level of success is a testament to their ability and work ethic. It highlights the quality of the comprehensive education they have received in Francis Howell.”

In 2018, more than 4,000 colleges and universities around the world received AP scores for college credit, advanced placement, or both, and/or consideration in the admissions process. Inclusion in the 9th Annual AP District Honor Roll is based on a review of three years of AP data, from 2016 to 2018, looking at 38 AP Exams, including world language and culture. The complete 9th Annual AP District Honor Roll can be found on the College Board website.
