Saeger Middle School recently
held their annual Spartan Winter Warm-Up, collecting new and gently used coats, gloves, hats, and
scarves. Saeger’s Spartan Service Club has been organizing the drive for
the past seven years to benefit families in our community who need a little extra
warmth during the holiday season.
This year, the Club partnered
with Schnucks-Cottleville, Cottleville City Hall, and Warren Elementary to
collect donations. Thanks to the generosity of our community, they collected
over 130 coats, and approximately 80 hats, scarves, and pairs of gloves.
Parent organizer, Yolanda Curry, says watching
the donations come in from the community was exciting. "The
community's support for the Spartan Winter Warm-Up is always fantastic and this
year was no exception,” says Curry. “This time of the year there are
families, for various reasons, that just need a little help. When
families come in and are able to find what they need for free -- they are
always so grateful and relieved."
On Dec. 12, families in our community had
the opportunity to shop for needed winter gear. This year’s Spartan Winter
Warm-Up served 14 families, a total of 47 children and adults.
While the Spartan Service Club works to keep families warm
each winter, they work year-round facilitating positive public service efforts to make the world a better place, one project at a time.
